For What It's Worth....

I came across the attached meme and thought I’d give it a try.

Given the current situation we are experiencing I decided to play some music from the Vietnam years. The times were much different then but for thousands of us it was like being quarantined for a year or more.

Many of us were selected to serve our country in places most of us couldn’t find on a map. You know those printed sheets of all the places around the world. NOTE: A time preceding Goggle and Apple Maps.

It was a time when there was protesting in the country by those that didn’t believe in the country’s leadership choosing to fight a war that Trump “thought was too far away.” It was a time when many were asked to leave the safety of home and experience things that were unimaginable. Much like first responders and families experiencing the fight against COVID 19.

During the Vietnam years many spoke out on college campus and the streets of cities. The baby boomers took a stand against what was thought to be bad leadership and unjust times. It does make me wonder why the millennials aren’t protesting the lack of information, supplies and equipment to treat those effected. Where are the leaders of all ages challenging the administration to provide honest information and necessary equipment and supplies to help.

As with Vietnam leaders today’s leadership seems to be unprepared for the current challenge much less a plan to resolve and end the situation. During the Vietnam years, unless you had a friend or family member serving you didn’t have to change your daily life. Today we are all impacted by leadership’s decision (or lack of them). So I ask where are the protesters? I know you can’t be on the streets or college campuses but can you imagine what the boomers would have done with the technology we have today? Take a few minutes of your time and help make a difference. Write your elected leaders demanding more information and faster response time to help those on the front lines. Challenge the leaders to do more. Get governors to implement stay at home orders. Eliminate the loop holes that allow non-essential businesses to remain open. Let those in charge hear from you!

Our lives have been altered and it may be months before we can gather at our favorite watering hole to enjoy a cocktail and share what we did with our “physical distancing” time.

Be strong, be safe, and well!

As a side note several years ago I put together a playlist and my daughter, Ann, posted it on Apple Music. It’s been long enough ago I forgot all about it. With the extra time I’ve added a few songs to the collection. In case you decide to turn off the news and listen to music I offer this playlist as an option.
